The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given its approval for allotment of 30 acre of land parcel to the Pasteur Institute of India (PII). The land for the project will be transferred free of cost
The PII will establish new viral vaccine manufacturing unit at Coonoor, Tamil Nadu
The project involves production of viral vaccines (like TCA anti-measles vaccine, JE vaccine, etc) and Anti Sera (like anti-snake venom and anti-rabies sera) at the institute
Moreover, the category of the land utilised for the project will be changed from ‘Industrial’ to ‘Institutional’ by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare
